I photographed Senator Hubert Humphrey on Capitol Hill while working as a photographer
for the U.S. Debt. of the Interior. He was running for President in 1972 against
Richard Nixon.

When I got to the reviewing stand in front of the White House I was told by the
Secret Service that my press pass had all the right words, but it was the wrong color
and that I couldn't come in. As I was walking away in disgust I turned and noticed
that the Secret Service man had his back turned and I zipped past him to get my shot
of the President. Later the President saw this photograph and requested a copy.
